{review} Innisfree Color Glow Lipstick #5 Deep Plum Burgundy

brand
Innisfree

product name
Color Glow Lipstick

shade
#5 Deep Plum Burgundy

price
SGD$16
(bought off Qoo10, retails at $20 in stores)

Released last autumn, this 10-colour collection places its spotlight on burgundy and purplish hues. The bulk of the collection hugely revolves around varying shades of pink - from rose tones to bright pinks and hues.

#6 Maple Burgundy Pink was dubbed the 'Yoona (from SNSD) lipstick' as she wore it in the product's ad. I swatched #6 in store but I liked #5 Deep Plum Burgundy better! :)

packaging

Nothing super cute about it. Just clean, simple and functional. Really digging the colour chip inserted at the base which makes it look less boring. The matte white body fends off any fingerprints but is easily dirtied and/or stained :(

I noticed that the cap is a little loose which makes it seem like its precariously snapped onto the body. The last thing you want to get is smooshed up lipstick all over your make up pouch. Yikes.

colour & swatches

Innisfree swatches VS my swatches:

From the ad it really seems like #5 is really quite vampy and dark but it really isn't, sadly! The colour is more like a true burgundy than anything else... The purplish from the plum they claim in the name (omg it rhymes) is not obvious.

However the colour is buildable to your heart's content - sheer or full out? You choose. I reckon you could slather on some more lippy to make it as dark as the Innisfree swatch.

product

It does what it says on the box! It glides like butter and has a slightly glossy, glowy sheen. The formula isn't sticky and is really quite moisturising. Truly impressed with the colour payoff for such a moisturising lipstick! 3-free system = no animal-derived ingredients, talc-free and benzophenone-free. The lesser the additives the better!

Its staying power is just average as the colour easily transfers to cups/straws but it does stain the lips a little as it fades. Obviously if you eat a burger it will all be gone as you continually lick your lips. Maybe I should subject all my lipsticks to a burger-eating test? That will be nice.

However... I really dislike the shape of the lipstick. It's too flat-angled to do any precise application without a lip brush (especially with red lipsticks). If you're a make up beginner... Oh dear. Ronald says he wants his red lips back.
